Hello everyone, I'm very busy for making research presentation plans for this week and next.
Today I'm going to write about breakfast.
Almost all of Japanese eat bread or rice for breakfast.
"Puri" means fried bread (on the right hand of picture), and "sabji" means bean curry (on the left hand of picture), so the name of "puri subji" means "curry and fried bread".
Every morning, I tear this puri and dip in sabji with my hands and eat it.
An interesting point is that in India, there is a culture where food is eaten by grasping things with the right hand instead of using a spoon or fork.
When I asked the reason, it seemed to have a religious meaning.
Specifically, each finger has a divine power (for example, the thumb is the god of fire, and the index finger is the god of wind...), and by using fingers to carry food to mouth, we can absorb their power into the body.

I wonder if you make it by yourself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I can. the procedure of making puri is like a making bread, and the one of sabji is similer to cooking curry, but, unfortunately, there is no kichen around me now...
ReplyDeleteof cause i want to try it after i get back to Japan.
