Hello,
I'm back with you, and I hope you're enjoying my posts about food and culture, particularly those from Indonesia.
The first thing I would like to mention is batik, which is one of Indonesia's most priceless and rich cultural assets. The world has grown to appreciate this archipelago's rich cultural legacy for its beauty.
In reality, on October 2, 2009, UNESCO named batik a Humanitarian Heritage for Oral and Intangible Culture.

In Indonesia, batik is extremely popular.
This may be seen in the variety of batik patterns seen in each region of Indonesia, where each
region has its own motif, color scheme, and pattern.
Moreover, the batik motif itself has a philosophy,
for example: Take the buketan batik motif, which represents floral arranging.
The main pictures in this batik motif are of tendril-bearing plants surrounded by flowers and birds.
The flower image in this motif is a symbol of happiness, beauty, purity and cheerfulness.
Meanwhile, the image of a bird can be interpreted as a symbol of a woman's elegance and authority.

Sekar Jagad motif: despite its multiplicity, the pattern is still Indonesian and can be interpreted in a variety of ways.

Which one your favourite? 😊
In Indonesia, we often wear batik clothes both in formal and casual events. Below are some photos of me and my friends and family using batik, we are proud and love batik.

Thank you for introducing such beautiful culture. So I understand that batik is a cloth with design, right? Then you wear batik shirts, batik skirts and so on. It is kinda surprising to me that a bird can be interpreted as a symbol of a woman's elegance and authority. In Japan, most birds are not so elegant and sober. So I searched birds in old Japanese design, and found family symbols. Please enjoy: https://cosinon.hateblo.jp/entry/2021/02/07/emblem
ReplyDeleteThank you for your response, Sensei, yes, that's right, but now batik is increasingly being made into clothes, but also into bags, souvenirs, even shoes, wallets, etc.
ReplyDeleteKawaii sensei, I also just found out about bird motifs in Japan from your sharelink. Thank You
