The question is..
Why rendang is so special?
Because its really delicious, try it and you will believe it 😊
Rendang has become part of Indonesian culture and is synonymous with spicy, savory and rich spices.
Rendang is made from beef.
Beef is slowly simmered with coconut milk and a mixture of lemongrass, galangal, garlic, turmeric, ginger and chilies, then left to stew for a few hours to create this dish of tender, flavorful bovine goodness.
My friend just came back from Germany last week and told me that the price of one portion of rendang is around 12 euros or around 2000 yen.

ReplyDeleteI heard about rendang for the first time, and it looks like so good.
Which spices were not available in Japan?
Good morning Sensei and Taga san
ReplyDeleteThank you for the question and response,
In Japan, it difficult to find Indonesian spices such as star anise, cardamom, and kandis acid as rendang spices. Information from my friend. There is an Indonesian shop in the Kusanagi area, but it is quite far from where I live. someday i can go there :)
You may know this, but have you ever been to the "JST Asian Restaurant" near Gifu University?
ReplyDeleteVarious spices are sold in their 2nd floor.
Wow, I've never been there before. I am currently living in Shizuoka, but I will try it when I visit Gifu; thank you Taga san for the information.
ReplyDeleteStar anise and cardamom is not so difficult to find. How about going to Kaldi Coffee Farm? You can find a couple of branch shops in Shizuoka. Kandis acid...I have never heard of it, so I have no idea.
